The Bowen Technique

A subtle and gentle holistic therapy. Anne Marie is passionate about the fact that The Bowen Technique therapy can be used to bring about lasting change, reduce pain, and improve functionality. Bowen works with the whole person to bring about improvements in pain levels, and day to day functioning and activities, assisting the body's own healing process. It is simple, safe and it works!

What is it?

The Bowen Technique treats the whole person, not just the condition. A non-invasive, holistic therapy consisting of a sequence of precise rolling moves over muscles and soft-tissue.  These moves encourage the body to self-heal. It creates a deep sense of relaxation whilst simultaneously healing, by affecting the body's autonomic nervous system, which creates homeostasis at cellular level. Practitioners are constantly surprised by the effectiveness of the therapy.

What to Expect

A treatment usually lasts about 45 minutes and can be applied through light clothing or directly on to the skin.  Four or five treatments at weekly intervals are often more than enough  to achieve lasting results.  Many clients return regularly for 'top-up' treatments to boost their feeling of health and well-being.

Starting on the back, the therapist uses thumbs and fingers in a subtle yet dynamic rolling move at precise points over muscles, tendons and soft-tissue.  After three or four movements, the therapist leaves the room for several minutes before returning to start the procedure once more.  This resting time, without the therapist in the room, allows the body to absorb the moves and make its own fine adjustments to initiate the healing process.
